Ever since reading Perfect Partners, I've been a "Krentz" fan. I
soon ran out of single title books, and began collecting her categories.
When time restraints are such, that only a "little" category makes sense, I
invariably choose one of hers. Thus...as I headed for the beach, I took
along Uneasy Alliance.
As expected, it had the Krentz hallmark stamped all over it. There was
humor, intrigue, sex, a feisty heroine, and the ever present alpha male,
which Krentz does so well. Though this time, even I admit he may be a little
too alpha. Still.....knowing this was released in the 80's I was able to
enjoy it, in that context.
We first meet h/h in an unusual setting......they are adult students, in a
flower arranging class. Typical of Krentz, and her quirky characters, it's
Torr who is the star student, with Rebecca's work being unusual to the
extreme. Working side by side, Torr becomes intrigued with Abby, and
despite her reluctance, they decide to date.
Before long, Torr finds out that Abby has received a blackmail note and intends to give in to any demands made in order to protect her beloved cousin. Torr
refuses to allow Abby to put herself in jeopardy and devises a plan where
they can work together to find and expose the culprit.
Though it was no surprise when the blackmailer was revealed, the road to
discovery was an enjoyable ride.
